HeatherWeb Outside of a dog, a book is a man's
best friend. Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read. |

I imported Phyl from John Atkinson in England on October 1, 2001 (my 35th birthday!). Phyl was born on November 11, 1998, bred by Bobby Dalziel of Scotland. She ran in Nursery trials in England before the Foot-and-Mouth disease shut trials down for a year. Her father is Bobby Dalziel's Jim, who placed third in the 1994 British International Sheepdog Trial. Her mother is Bobby Dalziel's Gael, the sister of Bobby's Cap and daughter of his International Supreme champion Wisp and his Scottish National champion Dot. Pedigrees aside, Phyl is simply a remarkable dog: she's extremely biddable, with a nice natural way with her sheep. I couldn't have found a better dog to teach me to be a handler, and I feel very lucky to have found her. Phyl has her own blog, which you can read here.
